We have an exciting opportunity for two Environmental Reporting Analysts to join the Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

What we do!

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Our Service Deliver Team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Reporting to the Environmental Technical Team Leader, the Environmental Reporting Analyst will ensure the accuracy and integrity of environmental compliance data and pollution reporting. This includes collating data from multiple corporate systems and producing regulatory reports on potential pollution incidents.

You will accurately interpret field samples and operational data to prepare reports that support the Environment Agency’s incident classification under CICS within 14 days of an incident.

Where you fit in!
  • Report writing and data assessment.
  • Gather, collate and analyse operational data from multiple sources to understand incidents and assess their environmental impact.
  • Interrogate non-corporate systems, including regulatory repositories such as MAGIC and DEFRA registers.
  • Analyse and assure wastewater compliance data, including permits, PFF, storm overflows, storm tanks and emergency overflows, to support accurate annual submissions, regulatory responses, EIR requests and PC reporting.
  • Access, validate and present data from corporate and external systems, including SAP, SAP/WMS2, Odyssey, EDMS Asset Inventory, RTS, ROD, Storm Harvester, Palette and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Produce clear, accurate compliance and management reporting, translating data into actionable insight for operational teams, senior leaders and regulators.
  • Lead investigations and escalations, coordinating with Pollution Specilists and operational teams, and owning issues through to resolution.
  • Build strong working relationships across the business, working collaboratively with Operations, Asset Management, Data Maintenance, Customer Billing and Data Science teams.
  • Work independently with strong attention to detail, managing priorities under pressure, supporting multiple areas flexibly, and maintaining a strong customer and regulatory focus.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
  • Ideally qualified to degree or HND level in Environmental Science, or with equivalent experience in ecology, contaminated land, water, air quality, or a similar environmental field, such as within the Environment Agency or Natural England.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater systems and service delivery, with the ability to assess how data, compliance activity and operational decisions affect customers, the environment and wider network performance.
  • Proven analytical capability, including a strong track record of interpreting, compiling and analysing complex datasets to support effective compliance monitoring and decision‑making.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to clearly explain data‑driven insights to a range of audiences, influence outcomes, and support informed decision‑making at both operational and strategic levels.
  • Strong customer‑focused mindset, demonstrating empathy, professionalism and the ability to balance detailed compliance activity with an understanding of the wider impact on customers and service delivery.
  • Effective self‑management and decision‑making skills, with the ability to work on own initiative, prioritise competing demands, manage time effectively and deliver high‑quality outputs to challenging timescales.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, operating as a collaborative team player who values colleagues’ input while also able to negotiate and influence with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High levels of diligence, resilience and attention to detail, showing flexibility, commitment and calm judgement when working under pressure in a high‑accountability compliance environment.

Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life.
