Job summary

H.W Martin Waste Ltd in Derbyshire is seeking an organised Compliance Auditor to join our Compliance team. The role leads internal and external audit programmes across H.W. Martin sites and client off-taker facilities, ensuring legal, contractual and management system requirements are met.

You will plan site visits, manage multiple workstreams and produce accurate reports for senior stakeholders. Regular travel and occasional overnight stays may be required to optimise travel efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and SharePoint.
• Confidence working with audit evidence, action trackers, registers and large volumes of information.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, accurate and timely reports.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with confidence working with colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels.
• A proactive approach to resolving issues and following actions through to completion.
• Ability to work independently, travel to sites and work effectively as part of a wider team.
• Good English language and numeracy skills.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake regular travel and occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal and external audits across H.W. Martin sites and client off-taker facilities.
• Plan and maintain an audit calendar, managing multiple audits, actions and deadlines.
• Visit sites, including with local Council representatives, to support Duty of Care requirements.
• Complete site, desktop and document-based audits and follow corrective actions to completion.
• Prepare accurate monthly reports for Directors, client Council representatives and the Environment Agency.
• Maintain audit schedules, records, evidence and action trackers.
• Support the Senior Compliance Manager to ensure company-wide compliance.
• Support the management system and ensure its day-to-day application.
• Draft and update procedures, toolbox talks and guidance on new regulations.
• Undertake ad hoc compliance projects as required.
• Liaise with site teams, clients, local authorities, regulators, contractors and stakeholders.
