Job Description:

Direct Commercial is an award-winning commercial motor insurer experiencing growth. We are seeking a Compliance Admin Assistant based in or near Chelmsford to join our Compliance team. The role is fully office-based at our Chelmsford location.

Business management responsibilities:

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Perform all activities professionally and ethically.
  • Participate actively in internal meetings as required.

Individual Conduct Rules:

2. Act with due care, skill, and diligence.

Role Overview & Responsibilities:

  • Support DCL’s compliance functions, including monitoring regulatory changes and reviewing policies annually.
  • Develop understanding of FCA regulation and its application to UK insurance firms.
  • Assist with the administration of the complaints handling process.
  • Learn about FCA’s DISP rules and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR).
  • Oversee updates to company stationery and email footers in line with regulations.
  • Manage conflicts of interest and gifts logs per company procedures and the Bribery Act 2010.
  • Maintain the SMCR framework.
  • Coordinate compliance training and maintain relevant records.
  • Prepare monthly compliance reports for management and partners.
  • Perform ad hoc compliance tasks as needed.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in insurance or financial services is desirable but not essential.
