Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Preston. The role offers hands-on experience translating psychology knowledge into practice, with diverse needs including PMLD, SLD, autism, and physical disabilities.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, work with teachers and therapists, and help pupils develop communication, independence, and daily living skills. This is a long-term, full-time post with training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Psychology graduates strongly encouraged to apply.
• Previous SEN, PMLD, care, or support experience highly desirable.
• Comfortable supporting pupils with complex physical and learning needs.
• Comfortable assisting with personal care where required.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support.
• Support sensory and communication-based learning.
• Use visual aids and alternative communication strategies.
• Develop independence and essential life skills.
• Support mobility and physical development; assist with personal care when needed.
