Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a PMLD school in Loughton on an immediate start basis. You will support pupils with profound and multiple learning needs across daily activities, learning sessions and personal care, working closely with teachers, therapists and other specialists to enable access to learning.

Experience with SEND or complex needs, empathy and patience are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent support throughout the school day to enable access to learning activities
• Help pupils engage with learning activities tailored to their abilities and development goals
• Support students with personal care, mobility, feeding, sensory regulation and medical needs
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, nurses and other specialist staff to implement pupil plans
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain a safe, caring and inclusive environment

We are working with a specialist PMLD school in Loughton that is looking to appoint a compassionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.

This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The students have a combination of severe learning disabilities alongside complex physical, medical, sensory, and communication needs. Many pupils are non-verbal or have limited verbal communication and may use PECS, Makaton, sensory cues, or specialist communication devices to express their wants and needs.

The role involves providing consistent support throughout the school day, helping pupils access learning activities that are tailored to their individual abilities and developmental goals. You may also support students with personal care, mobility, feeding, sensory regulation, and medical needs, working closely with teachers, therapists, nurses, and other specialist staff.
