Job description

Complex Needs SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you looking for a role working with children with complex needs and disabilities, including MLD, PMLD, physical needs, and a range of SEN?

Do you have experience supporting pupils with SEN requirements, additional needs, or disabilities? Are you confident working with children with autism, cerebral palsy, MLD, SpLD, or other SEN barriers? Have you used PECS, Makaton, BSL, or other communication methods? Are you comfortable supporting children who require personal care, lifting, and physical support?

The Job

Working with pupils aged 11 to 19 in the secondary part of a large specialist SEN school, you'll be actively involved! The role includes support across multiple classes, some one-to-one Teaching Assistant work, and small class support. You'll assist the class teacher as part of a team to support the children’s needs, including physical support, communication assistance, and delivering sensory curriculum activities.

You'll Be
  • Experienced in working with children with disabilities or SEN
  • Willing to carry out personal care tasks including changing and using hoists
  • Capable of engaging students with excellent communication skills
  • Promoting happiness, independence, and positive interactions
