Job summary

Prospero Teaching is working with a Special Needs School in Southwark, Peckham, London, seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a daily basis. The role runs 09:00-16:00, five days a week, supporting students 1:1 or in classroom settings, with potential for a fixed-term contract after a probation period.

A Child and Adult DBS is required, or we can help obtain one. Experience in care or support work and SEND settings is preferred; a positive mindset and flexibility to assist with

Qualifications

• Experience in care or support work is preferred.
• SEND experience is advantageous.
• A Child and Adult DBS is required (or we can help obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Support students in the classroom setting, either 1:1 or in small groups.
• Assist during a typical school day from 09:00 to 16:00.
• Be able to work five days per week.
• Support some personal care aspects for students with PMLD.

We are working with a Special Needs School in Southwark who are looking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant.

The school is located in Peckham and has great public transport links as well as a large school car park.

The school is extremely supportive and will offer candidates a contract after working in the school for a period of time.

Students who attend this school are secondary age and also have a sixth form cohort- as a result anyone interested in working in the school will require a child and adult DBS. If you do not have one we can help support this.

What does a working day and requirements look like?

• 09:00-16:00 daily
• Supporting students within the classroom setting either as a 1:1 or general classroom assistant
• Be able to work 5 days per week
• Must have a Child and Adult DBS
• Previous Care or support work experience would be ideal
• Previous SEND experience
• Positive mindset
• Open to supporting some personal care aspects- as students have PMLD
