Job summary

Prospero Teaching are working with a Special Needs School in Southwark seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant. The role involves supporting students in the classroom as a 1:1 or general assistant, with a DBS check required for Child and Adult DBS. A positive mindset and SEND experience are highly valued.

Applicants should be able to commit to 09:00-16:00, Monday to Friday, and may be asked to support personal care for some students with PMLD. A contract may be offered after a probationary period.

Qualifications

• Must have Child and Adult DBS (or be able to obtain)
• Previous care or support work experience is ideal
• Experience working with SEND students is advantageous
• Willing to support some personal care tasks for students with PMLD
• Able to work 9:00–16:00, 5 days a week

We are working with a Special Needs School in Southwark who are looking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant.

the school is located in Peckham and has great public transport links as well as a large school car park.

The school is extremely supportive and will offer candidates a contract after working in the school for a period of time.

Students who attend this school are secondary age and also have a sixth form cohort- as a result anyone interested in working in the school will require a child and adult DBS. If you do not have one we can help support this.

What does a working day and requirements look like?

• 09:00-16:00 daily
• Supporting students within the classroom setting either as a 1:1 or general classroom assistant
• Be able to work 5 days per week
• Must have a Child and Adult DBS
• Previous Care or support work experience would be ideal
• Previous SEND experience
• Positive mindset
• Open to supporting some personal care aspects- as students have PMLD
