GSL Education is seeking several Complex Needs Support Workers to work at an Ofsted-rated "Good" Secondary School in York starting September 2024.

About the School:

• This school emphasizes SEN children, catering to secondary-aged students from 11 to 19 years old, providing exceptional care and education.
• Every student has a learning disability, with some requiring additional services due to physical or sensory needs.
• The school offers a customized, individualized curriculum aligned with each child's Education, Health, and Care Plan.

Responsibilities of the Complex Needs Support Worker:

• Supporting children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, severe learning difficulties, and complex medical needs.
• Collaborating with students, families, and relevant parties to develop and implement student-centered service plans addressing social, emotional, and developmental needs.
• Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individualized education and care plans.
• Assisting with sensory, speech, language, and communication development.
• Managing classroom behaviors, recognizing triggers, and employing de-escalation techniques.
• Using specialist equipment and techniques to support learning and development.

Requirements for the Complex Needs Support Worker:

• Relevant qualifications in health and social care or related fields (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care).
• Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs in educational or care settings.
• Strong and engaging communication skills.
• Compassionate, caring, and genuinely interested in helping young people overcome barriers.
• Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
