GSL Education are seeking Complex Needs Support Workers in Scunthorpe to work with children and young people with special educational needs.

Responsibilities of the Complex Needs Support Worker:

• Supporting children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, and complex medical needs.
• Collaborating with family members, medical professionals, and school leaders to develop and implement a student-centred service plan to meet their social, emotional, and developmental needs.
• Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individualised education and care plans.
• Working with the class teachers to develop sensory, speech, language, and communication needs.
• Managing behaviours within the classroom and being aware of triggers, using de-escalation techniques.
• Use specialist equipment and techniques to support students' learning and development.

Requirements of the Complex Needs Support Worker:

• Relevant qualifications in health and social care or a related field (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care).
• Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs in an educational or care setting.
• Be a strong and engaging communicator.
• Be compassionate and caring and have a genuine desire to help young people overcome their barriers.
• Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
