Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a Bradford-based SEND school to recruit a Complex Needs Specialist Teaching Assistant for an ASAP start.

You will work closely with teaching staff to provide one-to-one and small group support, assist learning and development, and provide personal and intimate care when required, ensuring dignity, safety and wellbeing at all times. The role may require experience with PMLD, autism/ASD or physical disabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with complex needs, PMLD, autism/ASD or disabilities.
• Ability to provide personal care and intimate care when required.
• Experience in SEND settings or care environments is desirable.
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or sensory-based learning is desirable.
• Patient, caring and adaptable with strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students.
• Assist students with learning and development activities.
• Provide personal and intimate care as needed, maintaining dignity and wellbeing.

Salary: £100 - £120 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a supportive SEND school based in Bradford, which provides specialist education for students with a range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), autism / ASD, physical disabilities and additional learning needs. The school is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every student is supported to develop their independence, communication skills and confidence.

The successful Complex Needs Specialist Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to provide one-to-one and small group support, assist students with their learning and development, and provide personal care and intimate care where required, ensuring students' dignity, safety and wellbeing are maintained at all times.

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant care qualification is desirable
• Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs, PMLD, autism / ASD or physical disabilities
• Experience working within a SEND school, specialist provision or care setting is desirable
• Confidence and willingness to provide personal care and intimate care, including toileting, changing and supporting students with their daily needs
• Knowledge of communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS or sensory-based learning is desirable
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach with excellent communication and teamwork skills
