Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is working with a Bradford SEND school to recruit a Complex Needs Specialist Teaching Assistant. The role involves supporting students with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, autism and physical disabilities, both one-to-one and in small groups, and providing personal care where needed.

The placement can be short-term or long-term with an ASAP start, in a supportive team that values safety, dignity and wellbeing for every student.

Qualifications

• Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant care qualification desirable
• Experience supporting children/young people with complex needs, PMLD, autism/ ASD or disabilities
• Experience in SEND school, specialist provision or care setting desirable
• Confidence providing personal care and intimate care, including toileting and daily needs
• Knowledge of communication methods such as Makaton, PECS or sensory-based learning desirable
• Patient, caring and adaptable with good communication and teamwork

Complex Needs Specialist Teaching Assistant

Yorkshire and Humber/ contract / £100 - 120 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a supportive SEND school based in Bradford, which provides specialist education for students with a range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), autism / ASD, physical disabilities and additional learning needs. The school is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every student is supported to develop their independence, communication skills and confidence.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated Complex Needs Specialist Teaching Assistant for short-term or long-term placements, with an ASAP start. The successful Complex Needs Specialist Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to provide one-to-one and small group support, assist students with their learning and development, and provide personal care and intimate care where required, ensuring students' dignity, safety and wellbeing are maintained at all times.

The successful Complex Needs Specialist Teaching Assistant will have:

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant care qualification is desirable
• Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs, PMLD, autism / ASD or physical disabilities
• Experience working within a SEND school, specialist provision or care setting is desirable
• Confidence and willingness to provide personal care and intimate care, including toileting, changing and supporting students with their daily needs
• Knowledge of communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS or sensory-based learning is desirable
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach with excellent communication and teamwork skills
