TRFS in Paisley is seeking a Complex Needs Practitioner Level 1 to join our dedicated team. This full-time, permanent role supports individuals with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs across daily living tasks, including meals, medications, appointments and finances.

Job description

We're expanding in Paisley!! If you'repassionate about supporting others to achieve their goals and looking for a role where you can make a real difference, then we want to hear from you!

We are on the lookout for an experienced individual with a calm and understanding nature to join our team in Paisley as a Complex Needs Practitioner Level 1 on a full-time, permanentbasis (39hours per week).

It would be great if you have a full UK manual driving licence with a minimum of 1 years’ driving experience as many of the people we support have their own mobility cars. However, this is not essential to join our team.

The Role

Blackford is a purpose built complex of two homes conjoined by a staff area and support 8 gents with a mixture of Autism, learning disabilities, Downs Syndrome, complex needs and behaviours of concern. Each supported individual has their own room and ensuite built to their needs and share a communal area, kitchen, activities room and large garden with an outdoor gym.

The people we support are all very different with their hobbies and we’ll be looking to you to take an active interest. Their interests include going out for a tasty bite, sensory activities, quiet time on their iPad, relaxing going on holidays, out for walks and to their favourite clubs. One of the gents also attends college and enjoys going out for drives. With your support you’ll reduce social isolation, enable individuals maintain their independence and grow in confidence.

As a Complex Needs Practitioner, you will be part of a dedicated and friendly team, supporting individuals with all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, going to appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling and personal care. You’ll also provide emotional support and assist them to maintain relationships with family and friends. Some individuals have complex communication needs and use different communication tools to meet their needs.

In our service we may use CALM which are physical intervention and escape techniques to ensure the safety of supported individuals, colleagues, and members of the public. Techniques include but are not limited to; posture and distance when supporting, understanding triggers and escalations signs along with guiding individuals away to deescalate situations.

Shift Patterns

You’ll be joining our dedicated team who provide support 24/7 tailored support and shift patterns include 7:30am – 10pm, 8am – 9:30pm, sleepover shift from 8am until 8:15am the following day and waking night from 9:30pm until 8:30am.This role is predominantly lone working.

The sleepover part of your shift is not included in your contracted hours, so for every sleep you cover you will receive an additional £107.60 in your pay.
