About the role:

Justteachers are working with a Wakefield Primary School to appoint a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant. This role is to start in September 2026 on a full and long-term basis.

The Complex Needs Teaching Assistant will work with students who have a range of needs and work at a slower pace than their peers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide multi-sensory teaching approaches
• Use physical objects and visual aids to support teaching
• Use ‘working walls’, checklists and graphic organisers to reduces memory load
• Provide 1:1 short and daily sessions to target specific skills
• Make relevant environmental adjustments for individual students
• Provide tailored support to students with complex needs

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children with complex needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory needs, autism, or medical needs
• Understanding of inclusive practice and strategies to support pupils with a wide range of additional needs
• Experience delivering 1:1 or small-group interventions under the guidance of teachers or specialists
• Ability to follow individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and care plans
