Job summary

Complete Care Amegreen is recruiting a care assistant to support a young, very happy gentleman with cerebral palsy and epilepsy in Kettering. You will provide personal care, administer medication via PEG, assist with hourly observations and monitor a non-invasive ventilator; daytime duties may include taking him on outings to places like country parks and local venues.

A driver is essential for day shifts. Full training is provided.

Qualifications

• Full training will be provided but experience in a complex care setting, inclusive of knowledge of neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy and epilepsy would be extremely advantageous.
• Background in PEG feeds, non-invasive ventilator, moving and handling equipment and caring for non-verbal clients would also enhance your application

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and administer medication via PEG
• Make hourly observations and monitor the non-invasive ventilator (night shift)
• Support outings and activities for the client, including trips to venues and events

Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour

Shifts Available: Days & Waking Nights Available (Part & Full Time)

Days 2:1 - Term Time - 3pm - 9pm / Non-Term Time - 8:30am - 3pm

Waking Nights 1:1 - 9pm - 8:30am

Weekends 2:1 - 8:30am - 9pm

Access to vehicle required due to geographical location of the role (Day Shifts Only)

Job Description

What you'll do

The client is a young, very happy and sociable gentleman with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. He loves to go out for long walks and to go out for days out so a driver during the day would be essential. For example you could be going on trips to the space centre, country parks, Warwick Castle and many more!

He is non-verbal but you will get know him by his facial expressions and if he is at home he has many hobbies that you could get involved in, this could include painting with his hands, finger painting; listening to music and watching TV.

He would love to go to concerts, so an outgoing, friendly person who is willing to take him to shows and live events would keep him thoroughly entertained.

In terms of the clinical aspects, you would provide personal care, administer medication and feeds via PEG, make hourly observations and finally to monitor his non-invasive ventilator. The latter is only required during the night shift.
