Job summary

Routes Healthcare (North) Limited is recruiting a Complex Care Assistant in Sandbach, Cheshire to support a young child with cerebral palsy at home. The role offers £17.93 per hour (including holiday pay), day shifts from 10am to 6pm, and guaranteed hours after probation.

You’ll receive full training, 24/7 clinical support, and work with the family and healthcare professionals to keep the child safe and comfortable. Applicants should have UK work rights and relevant care experience.

Qualifications

• Experience caring for babies or young children in paid roles or placements.
• At least 6 months UK care experience.
• Moving and handling experience.
• NVQ Health and Social Care L2/3 or current nursing/childcare studies.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one care following the child’s care plan and risk assessments.
• Carry out tracheostomy care, clinical observations, and medication administration (training provided).
• Support personal care, moving and handling, and daily routines.
• Work closely with the family, healthcare professionals and the wider care team.

We're looking for a caring, patient carer to join a small team supporting a young child who needs specialised care. Because of that care, this child can be at home with the people who love them rather than in hospital.

You’ll be there for the everyday moments: bath time, cuddles, play, bedtime routines and the milestones in between. You’ll also give the family peace of mind, knowing their child is in safe hands while they rest, work or spend time together.

The role

The child has Cerebral Palsy. You’ll receive full training in their care, with 24/7 clinical support whenever you need it. Working alongside the family and the child’s healthcare professionals, you’ll keep them safe and comfortable and help them enjoy their day.

What you’ll do

• Provide one-to-one care with dignity and compassion, following the child’s care plan and risk assessments.
• Carry out tracheostomy and clinical observations and medication administration (full training provided).
• Support personal care, moving and handling, and daily routines.
• Work closely with the family, healthcare professionals and the wider care team.

What we’re looking for

• Experience caring for babies or young children, in a paid role, nursing placement or professional childcare setting.
• At least 6 months' UK care experience.
• Moving and handling experience.
• A calm, gentle and reliable approach, and the confidence to stay composed if something changes quickly.
• The right to work in the UK (we cannot offer sponsorship).
• Tracheostomy or ventilation experience.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or current nursing or childcare studies.
