About Me

I attend school and I am working towards increasing the amount of time I spend in school. I enjoy using my iPad, chew toys, and a variety of sensory toys. I am active and enjoy going out.

How I Communicate

  • I benefit from staff communicating openly with both me and my parents to help meet my needs.
  • It can be difficult for me to reliably communicate when I am happy, sad, uncomfortable, or in pain, so I need carers who take the time to get to know me well.
  • I enjoy exploring the world around me and benefit from hearing new voices and meeting new people.
  • I would like ongoing support to develop my visual skills.
  • I have a variety of toys and sensory resources that can be used to support my development and engagement.
  • There are no known concerns with my hearing, so please talk to me during care activities, daily routines, and play sessions.
What I Need From My Carers

  • Experience supporting children with complex needs.
  • An understanding of non-verbal communication and behaviour-based communication.
  • Encouragement and support to attend and engage in school activities.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with me, my family, school staff, and healthcare professionals.
  • Consistent, person-centred support that promotes my wellbeing, development, and independence wherever possible.

  • Accurately document care provided and clinical observations.
  • Build a trusting relationship and understand the client's communication through behaviours.
