Technical Partners is representing a leading UK energy business in Perth, seeking a Compex Electrician for field-based projects across hazardous and non-hazardous environments. You will lead on-site teams and ensure safe, compliant delivery of electrical installations.

The role offers a base salary of £52,188 plus a company van, fuel card, night-out allowance, overtime with an OTE of £80,000+, and a 40-hour week with 12–15 hours of overtime. Travel, nights away, and generous benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Approved Electrician with 18th edition and apprenticeship.
• Compex 01-04 certification.
• C&G 2391/2394/2395 inspections and testing.
• CCSNG or equivalent safety passport.
• Experience with ATEX rated equipment and LV distribution.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical projects across the UK.
• Act as main on-site point of contact and lead site teams.
• Install, inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems in hazardous and non-hazardous environments.
• Ensure compliance with ATEX and safety regulations.
• Read schematics and control system documentation; diagnose faults.

Job Title: Compex Electrician

Location: Perth, Scotland (minimum 3 nights on the road a week)

Base Salary: £52,188 + Company Van + Fuel Card + Night out allowance + Overtime.(OTE: £80,000+ based on realistic overtime)

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (40 hours) plus 12-15 hours overtime per week.

Responsibilities

• Support internal and external electrical projects across the UK.
• Act as the main on-site point of contact, ensuring smooth project execution and clear communication.
• Install, inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems in Hazardous and Non-Hazardous environments.
• Ensure compliance with ATEX standards and all relevant safety regulations.
• Read and interpret schematic, loop, P&ID, and zone drawings, as well as control systems documentation.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults effectively while promoting a culture of safety on-site.

This is a varied and rewarding role suitable for someone who is organised, technically proficient, and confident in leading site-based teams.

Skills & Qualifications Required

• Approved Electrician with an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent 18th edition
• Compex 01-04
• C&G 2391 / 2394 & 2395 - Inspection and Testing certification.
• CCSNG or equivalent safety passport.
• Experienced with ATEX rated equipment, including motors, control stations, junction boxes, and lighting.
• Proficient in installation of metal trunking, conduit, tray systems, SWA cables, and LV distribution equipment.
• Strong understanding of control systems and electrical documentation.

Typical Earnings

Basic Salary: £52,188 (OTE: £80,000+ based on realistic overtime)

Away-from-home Allowances: Approximately £8,640 per year

A typical working week consists of 40 standard hours, with 12-15 hours of overtime available each week, plus £75 per night when working away (£30 overnight allowance and £45 meal allowance).

Unlike many field-based engineering roles, these earnings are based on realistic overtime rather than excessive working hours. The business actively supports engineer wellbeing and manages driving fatigue, meaning excessive overtime is neither expected nor encouraged.
