Job summary

Technical Partners is representing a leading UK energy business seeking a Compex Electrician. This field-based role offers a base salary of £52,188 with a company van, fuel card and overtime opportunities across Hazardous and Non-Hazardous environments.

The position includes 40-hour weeks (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm) with 12-15 hours of overtime, away-from-home allowances, and a realistic OTE of £80,000+.

Qualifications

• Approved Electrician with an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent.
• 18th edition wiring regulations knowledge.
• Compex 01-04 experience.
• C&G 2391/2394/2395 inspection and testing certification.
• CCSNG or equivalent safety passport.
• Experience with ATEX rated equipment and hazardous environments.
• Installation experience: metal trunking, conduit, tray systems, SWA cables, LV distribution.
• Strong understanding of electrical documentation and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Support internal and external electrical projects across the UK.
• Act as the main on-site point of contact and ensure clear communication.
• Install, inspect, test and maintain electrical systems in Hazardous and Non-Hazardous environments.
• Ensure compliance with ATEX standards and safety regulations.
• Read and interpret schematics, loop, P&ID and zone drawings and control systems docs.
• Diagnose and resolve faults while promoting on-site safety.

As a Compex Electrician, you will:

• Support internal and external electrical projects across the UK.
• Act as the main on-site point of contact, ensuring smooth project execution and clear communication.

• Ensure compliance with ATEX standards and all relevant safety regulations.

• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults effectively while promoting a culture of safety on-site.

Typical Earnings

• Basic Salary: £52,188 (OTE: £80,000+ based on realistic overtime)
• Away-from-home Allowances: Approximately £8,640 per year

A typical working week consists of 40 standard hours, with 12-15 hours of overtime available each week, plus £75 per night when working away (£30 overnight allowance and £45 meal allowance).

Unlike many field-based engineering roles, these earnings are based on realistic overtime rather than excessive working hours. The business actively supports engineer wellbeing and manages driving fatigue, meaning excessive overtime is neither expected nor encouraged.
