A highly-regarded commercial law firm in London is seeking a Competition lawyer with 0 to 2 years' PQE. The role involves managing a diverse caseload, including merger control and antitrust investigations, while working alongside various legal teams. Opportunities for international secondments and business development are also available.
Highly-regarded commercial law firm in London is seeking to recruit a Competition lawyer of 0 to 2 years’ PQE to their team. The team handles a broad range of Competition law matters including many high-profile cases, in relation to various competition investigations. Types of mattes they often work on include: • cartel and other antitrust/monopoly investigations• the European and international merger control aspects of major mergers and acquisitions • multijurisdictional follow-on litigation.
In contrast to many other firms, the firm encourages Associates to maintain a broad caseload (across both contentious and non-contentious matters) rather than overspecialising. As a general guide, they would expect about 50% of your workload to relate to merger control matters, with the remaining 50% comprising a mixture of cartel investigations, abuse of dominance matters, state aid, public procurement, regulatory and other contentious matters. Furthermore, you will potentially work with any of the partners across the Competition Group, including those based in other countries, giving you the opportunity to experience a wide range of working styles and strategic approaches.
Depending on the scale and complexity of any given project, you may find yourself operating as the single Associate on a matter (with an appropriate level of supervision depending on your PQE) or working as part of a larger team. You will also have the opportunity to develop contacts outside the immediate team; for example, their Competition associates regularly work alongside Corporate, Disputes and Investigations and Intellectual Property lawyers, providing clients with unparalleled integration when it comes to legal advice. With the Competition Group operating out of this firm’s London, Brussels and Hong Kong offices, there are often both international and domestic client secondment opportunities available to associates, all of whom are encouraged to spend time working at one of our other offices at the appropriate time. The successful candidate will be expected to support the wider team in its business development activities and raising the profile of the firm.
