Job summary

The Crescent Veterinary Centre in Melton Mowbray is seeking a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This full-time role (40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 08:30–19:00) involves nursing care, assisting vets, and supporting reception tasks in a busy veterinary practice.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or public interaction is essential.
• Ability to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism.
• Strong communication and genuine empathy are required.
• Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, and handling, is essential.
• Resilience and ability to work in a busy environment.
• Preferably experience in a veterinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to veterinary patients.
• Assist Vets and Nurses with animal restraint.
• Walk, feed and clean patients throughout shifts.
• Prepare emergency and operating facilities.
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance of practice areas.
• Run internal lab samples as required.
• Answer emergency calls and support reception with bookings and payments.
