Job summary

CVS Veterinary Group is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Patient Care Assistant for our Tilehurst Veterinary Centre near Reading. This role supports RVNs and Vets, providing nursing care, handling, and daily patient duties in a busy practice.

We offer a permanent, full-time position (40 hours/week) with a 1:4 Saturday rota, and a benefits package designed for healthcare staff. Experience in animal welfare is valued, and a supportive team culture is in place.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with strong empathy.
• Excellent customer service skills and experience dealing with the public.
• Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and welfare needs.
• Resilient with the ability to cope with distressing situations.
• Positive attitude and excellent teamwork.
• Experience in a veterinary environment desirable.

Responsibilities

• Nursing care to patients.
• Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment.
• Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients.
• Preparation of emergency and operating facilities.
• General cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Running internal lab samples.
• Answering emergency calls.
• Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments.
