Job summary

Oakland Care is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering nutritious meals for residents at Harpenden Springs. You will help cater for dietary needs and ensure high hygiene standards while supervising kitchen staff and stock control.

This permanent role offers 40 hours per week, day shifts across 5 days, and a rate of £18.00 per hour with benefits and opportunities for progression within a caring team.

Qualifications

• Experience as Sous Chef or similar role.
• Passion for producing high-quality nutritious food.
• Knowledge of dietary requirements within a care setting.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 desirable).
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and independently.
• Caring, compassionate and resident-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing nutritious meals.
• Support delivery of varied menus including special diets and allergies.
• Maintain high food hygiene, health and safety standards.
• Supervise kitchen staff and day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering.
• Ensure meals are served on time to a high standard.
• Keep accurate records in line with CQC and food safety requirements.
• Promote a positive, collaborative working environment.
