Job summary

Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties Assistant role in a supportive school in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. You will work with pupils with PMLD and complex needs, providing personalised one-to-one or small group support to help access learning.

Salary is £85-£110 per day, with PAYE weekly pay. Full and part-time roles available starting September 2026. Experience in education or care is beneficial but not essential, with opportunities to develop in SEND and related fields.

Qualifications

• Experience in education, care, healthcare or support work is beneficial but not essential.
• Patient and empathetic attitude.
• Interest in SEND professions and career development.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to each child’s needs.
• Assisting with sensory-based learning activities to encourage engagement and development.
• Supporting children with personal care and mobility while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Using communication methods (Makaton, PECS, symbols or aids) to help pupils express themselves.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with children.
