Job summary

Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking a caring, patient individual to support a wonderful 13-year-old girl with autism and epilepsy in her home and local community. The role focuses on safety, companionship, and enabling independence through gentle guidance and engaging activities in outdoor and nature settings.

The successful candidate will be calm, reliable, and able to build trust at her pace, with strong time-keeping and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient and friendly.
• Responsible, reliable and honest.
• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
• Good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
• Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
• Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
• Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
• Ability to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
• A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance.
• Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.

• Providing companionship in the employer’s home and engaging in conversation.
• Supporting the employer to gain independence.
• Helping the employer to interact socially in their community.
• Assisting with shopping and attending activities of interest.
• Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
• Encouraging safe and respectful participation in daily routines.
• Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
• Ensuring the employer’s safety during working hours.
• Carrying out other reasonable tasks as requested by the employer.
• Ensuring compliance with Data Protection Act and safeguarding guidelines.
