Job summary

EMED Group is seeking compassionate individuals for the Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) role in Reading. You will transport patients to and from appointments and between healthcare facilities, with full training provided. A UK manual driving licence is essential and shifts run 05:00–01:00, including evenings and weekends.

You will work solo or with a colleague and support patients with empathy and care. The role requires physical fitness for patient handling, DBS clearance, and a strong team

Qualifications

• Valid UK manual driving licence (6 points max)
• Able to work flexible shifts 05:00–01:00, Mon–Sun
• Committed to patient care
• Empathetic and effective communicator
• Physically fit for patient handling and moving
• Able to pass Enhanced DBS check (company funded)
• Natural flair for teamwork and collaboration

Responsibilities

• Assist in transporting patients to and from medical appointments and between facilities
• Lift, secure and help patients in/out of ambulances
• Assist with handing over patients to staff on arrival at treatment centres or hospitals
• Transfer patients between beds, stretchers and chairs in clinical settings
• Ensure ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy
• Provide end-of-life transport with empathy when required
