Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Passenger Assistant to help transport vulnerable children and adults to and from schools and venues. You will travel in minibuses, cars and taxis, delivering a safe and friendly journey while supporting the driver.

This casual role offers flexible hours across multiple locations, with no requirement to visit the base every day. DBS checks and references are part of the safeguarding process, ensuring a protected community for those we serve.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS check, 5 years of satisfactory references and health check.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting situations to solve straightforward problems concerning passenger wellbeing.
• Fastening seat belts and attaching booster seats; ensure proper seating.
• Work with the driver and other passenger assistants to keep passengers safe.
• Secure and stow equipment such as wheelchairs during transit.
• Coordinate with schools and parents about passengers health and wellbeing.
