Job summary

A supportive employment agency is seeking a compassionate Personal Assistant to provide one-on-one community support for an 8-year-old boy with Autism. This flexible, part-time position requires individuals with experience or training in special educational needs, and involves constant supervision to ensure safety. Responsibilities include facilitating social interactions and using communication aids. Successful candidates must also pass an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with Autism, communication difficulties, and/or additional needs.
• Ability to use or willingness to learn Makaton and visual supports.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to build trust with both the child and his family.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to the young person during community-based outings.
• Use Makaton, gestures, and visuals to aid communication.
• Ensure his safety at all times, especially in public settings.
