Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Southampton is seeking a Registered Nurse for a part-time temporary assignment (approx. end date June 2027).

The role reports to the site Manager and focuses on health promotion, assessment, and delivery of comprehensive care across multiple modalities to maintain optimal function. The candidate will provide leadership in emergencies as needed, interpret basic arrhythmias, and align with Brightshores’ patient safety and continuous quality improvement culture.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligible.
• Ability and willingness to interpret basic arrhythmias.
• Ability to work in Emergency as required.
• ACLS, BCLS, CCU I or equivalent certifications may be required.
• Leadership, problem solving, decision‑making and interpersonal skills.
• Assessment and interviewing skills.
• Willingness to escort patients via ambulance when required.
• Flex time to meet unit, staff and patient needs.
• Team orientation and contribution to quality improvement.
• Ability to work all shifts and maintain professionalism.
• Commitment to continuing professional development.
• Basic computer knowledge relevant to nursing tasks.
• Participation in staff meetings and unit projects.
• Strong communication with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records.
• Demonstrates Brightshores values and patient safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Promote health and assess patient conditions and treatment needs.
• Provide care across supportive, preventive, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative domains.
• Collaborate with the medical team to attain optimal patient function.
• Escort patients via ambulance when required and assist in emergencies.
• Participate in unit projects and quality improvement efforts.
