Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced Male Teaching Assistant to join a South Liverpool school on a full-time basis. You will support pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, providing 1:1 and small group assistance, and follow EHC plans to deliver personalised support.

The role requires strong behaviour management, trauma-informed practices, and a commitment to safeguarding. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to promote wellbeing and inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting pupils with ASC/ASD.
• Experience supporting pupils with ADHD in educational or care settings.
• Understanding SEMH needs and trauma-informed approaches.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ASC, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
• Implement and follow EHC plans and personalised support strategies.
• Deploy behaviour management techniques to reduce challenging behaviour.
• Act as a male role model for students.
• Collaborate with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral team.
• Build trusting relationships to promote engagement and wellbeing.
• Support pupils with social communication and emotional regulation.
• Maintain records of pupil progress, incidents, and interventions.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Assist with personal care and physical support where required.
