Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our care homes by preparing and serving nutritious meals with warmth and respect. You will help maintain kitchen hygiene, monitor temperatures, and assist with stock management under supervision.

We value kindness and teamwork in a role that supports residents with diverse dietary needs. Applicants should have some kitchen experience and are expected to work towards an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Patience, respect and genuine kindness when interacting with Residents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under direction of Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers).
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
• Guide new team members on safe use of kitchen equipment.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen clean after busy shifts.
