Job summary

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Bank Porter/Housekeeper to join the Hotel Services Team at West Park Hospital. You will provide cleaning and catering services across offices, patient, and communal areas, maintaining a clean, safe environment to support patient recovery.

Ideal candidates have experience in hospital cleaning, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (to be completed within 12 months)
• Numeracy and Literacy to level 2 ITQ Level 2
• NVQ level 2 in Portering or Housekeeping
• Experience in portering
• Experience in use of cleaning materials and equipment
• Experience in mental health or learning disabilities environment
• Experience cleaning in a hospital environment
• Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH
• Knowledge of National Standard of Cleanliness
• Knowledge of deep-cleaning procedures
• Knowledge of PLACE
• Good understanding of confidentiality
• Able to follow protocols and instructions
• Able to demonstrate thoroughness and attention to detail
• Safe cleaning techniques incl. deep cleaning, kitchen equipment, ovens, washing
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Time management and prioritisation

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain cleaning and catering services for offices, patient and communal areas.
• Interact compassionately with patients and carers at all times.
• Promote quality improvement within the Hotel Services team.
• Promote a positive image of mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
• Work at West Park Hospital; shifts 6-2, 14:00-22:00, 22:00-07:00; weekends/bank holidays.
• Be reliable, flexible and able to work short notice for extra hours.
