Job summary

Market Overton and Somerby Surgeries is recruiting a Patient Services Receptionist to join our friendly team, supporting patients and colleagues while delivering high-quality healthcare.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments and general administration, including processing prescriptions and assisting with the practice dashboard to ensure a positive patient experience in a rural NHS setting.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
• Good standard of general education.
• Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in receptionist, customer service or admin roles.
• Experience in GP practice or NHS environment.
• Knowledge of SystmOne or similar clinical systems.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Provide reception service to patients and visitors, in person and by phone.
• Manage appointments and enquiries; explain procedures.
• Signpost to appropriate healthcare professional or service.
• Handle online forms and e-consults; assist with practice dashboard.
• Hand out medication and collect prescription charges as required.
• Check prescriptions for signatures and endorse as needed.
• Open the premises at start of day and secure it at close.
• Undertake additional duties as requested by Partners or Practice Manager.
