Job summary

Life Services Group is seeking a compassionate Funeral Service Operative for our Camberwell care centre in London. The role involves supporting families during their time of loss and handling the deceased with dignity and respect.

Based on a rotating shift across our London centres, the position requires flexibility and a commitment to out-of-hours work. Full training, uniform and support are provided.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
• Empathetic, professional and composed under pressure.
• Respectful and caring with colleagues and families.
• Physically capable of manual handling.
• Comfortable working directly with the deceased.

Responsibilities

• Provide dignified, professional care for the deceased.
• Support Funeral Directors with seamless service and ceremonial work.
• Drive and maintain specialist vehicles (hearses, limousines, private ambulances).
• Join the on-call rota (including nights/weekends).
• Prepare the deceased (washing, dressing, presentation) to family, religious or cultural wishes.
• Carry out all duties involving the deceased with care and professionalism.
