Job summary

Co-op is seeking a Funeral Service Crew member in Great Tey to support families and ensure dignified funeral care. You’ll collect the deceased from various locations, assist with transport in funeral vehicles, and help with preparation and personal care of the deceased.

No prior funeral industry experience is required as full training and ongoing support are provided. This part-time role offers varied shifts, pension and other employee benefits, plus discounts on Co-op products.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK manual driving licence.
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (manual lifting) with training provided.
• Good IT skills and ability to learn new applications and systems.
• Ability to stay calm and empathetic in emotional circumstances.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from a range of locations in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins on funeral day and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral.
• Maintain client management records with timely information.
