Job summary

St Martins Care Ltd is seeking a part-time Care Assistant to support a busy care home in Thornaby-on-Tees. The role offers flexible hours and alternate weekends, aiming to deliver person-centred care and meaningful activity for residents.

You will follow care plans, assist with daily tasks such as bathing, eating, dressing, and grooming, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure residents feel safe and valued.

Qualifications

• Good English (written and verbal).
• Proficient written skills to maintain care plans and care records.
• Communication skills to build rapport with residents, communicate effectively with them, and inform colleagues, management, and professionals about their needs.
• Problem-solving skills to adapt to and address situations quickly, develop solutions, and recognise/report situations requiring protection.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that residents are at the heart of care delivery, respecting their wishes and preferences to enhance their wellbeing.
• Contribute to the efficient running of the service.
• Support residents to maintain relationships and connections with their local community.
• Follow care plans and other supporting information regarding residents.
• Inform the Senior Care Assistant/Nurse of any changes in a residents needs.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of those being supported.
