Job summary

AWD online is recruiting a Call Handler / Domestic Abuse Helpline Advisor in Luton. You will provide vital telephone and casework support, helping women access safe accommodation, outreach and community services.

You will assess needs, signpost services, empower women to make informed choices, and work with partner agencies to promote effective support. This role requires empathy and safeguarding commitment.

Qualifications

• Level 3+ qualification in social care or equivalent.
• Experience supporting vulnerable individuals in crisis.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• IT literate with Word, Excel, email and databases.
• Experience working in multi-agency settings.
• Commitment to safeguarding and anti-discriminatory practice.

Responsibilities

• Respond to calls with empathy, assess needs and risks.
• Receive and process referrals for refuge, outreach and group support.
• Allocate safe accommodation for women and children.
• Record case details accurately using secure systems.
• Promote safeguarding and raise concerns as required.
• Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers and partner agencies.
• Develop networks and raise awareness of services.
• Participate in out-of-hours rota, training and supervision.
