Job summary

Lincolnshire County Council is seeking a compassionate Coroners Officer to support families across the Greater Lincolnshire area. You will help guide bereaved families through the coronial process with empathy and clear information, while coordinating with doctors, police, mortuary staff, pathologists and funeral directors.

You will manage case files, arrange post-mortems and prepare for inquests, ensuring compliance with legislation.

Responsibilities

• Support bereaved families with empathy and clear information through the coronial process.
• Work with doctors, police, mortuary staff, pathologists and funeral directors to gather information and investigate deaths.
• Manage case files, arrange post-mortems and prepare for inquests in line with legislation.
• Take part in the out-of-hours rota to provide support following a death in the community.
• Help new team members learn the ropes and share knowledge.
• Explain things clearly and listen with empathy.
• Stay organised, calm under pressure and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
• Be able to travel across the County as needed for service requirements.
