Job summary

MHA at Davids House care home in Harrow seeks an enthusiastic Cook to provide nutritious meals for members at lunch, breakfast and tea clubs, ensuring safe, efficient preparation and adherence to dietary needs. You will manage day-to-day kitchen operations, supervise volunteers, and support staff with rotas and training, contributing to a warm, welcoming environment focused on wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience of preparing and cooking meals for large numbers of people.
• Ability to manage budgets and control costs.
• Strong communication and customer-focused service.
• Experience supervising volunteers (desirable).
• Creativity in menu planning and sensitivity to diverse needs.
• Flexible attitude with occasional travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals for lunch, breakfast or afternoon tea clubs.
• Plan nutritious menus meeting dietary and cultural needs.
• Manage food ordering and stock control to minimise waste and costs.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety per COSHH and policy.
• Supervise and support volunteers and staff, organising rotas.
• Assist with induction and training of volunteers and staff, ensuring compliance with food hygiene.
• Maintain records and complete audits in line with food safety policies.
• Attend training, meetings and appraisals as required.
