Job summary

Academics is seeking a compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Tilehurst, Berkshire, start ASAP. You will provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs, including those with ASD and communication needs.

The role offers ongoing professional development within a supportive team; previous experience with additional needs is desirable, but the right attitude and patience are key.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with complex needs is ideal.
• Ability to support pupils with ASD and communication needs.
• Calm, patient, and adaptable in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs.
• Supporting pupils with learning difficulties, ASD and communication needs.
• Helping children develop independence, confidence and social skills.
• Supporting pupils to participate fully in lessons and school activities.
• Using a calm and consistent approach to help pupils manage their emotions and behaviour.
• Working closely with teachers and other members of the school's support team.
