Job summary

Runnymede Borough Council invites applications for a Community Transport Driver to deliver a safe, reliable and caring transport service for older residents and others who rely on accessible transport. You will support access to appointments and social activities within a shared service with Surrey Heath Borough Council.

The role requires a full UK driving licence with D1 entitlement, a First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain it), and a commitment to safeguarding and high-quality

Qualifications

• D1 entitlement is an essential driving requirement for council vehicles.
• First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain it.
• Willingness to undertake further training including manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport passengers using accessible minibuses.
• Assist passengers boarding and alighting with dignity.
• Follow daily schedules and routes efficiently.
• Carry out routine vehicle safety checks and report defects.
• Maintain mileage and fuel records.
• Monitor passenger wellbeing and report safeguarding concerns.
• Communicate journey updates to the team.
• Keep vehicles clean and ready for service.
• Support induction and training of new drivers.
• Provide occasional support to Meals at Home and assist during emergencies.
