Job summary

The Meadow care home in Muswell Hill is seeking a Cook to join MHA and prepare nutritious meals for members attending our activities. You will manage day-to-day kitchen operations, ensure safe food handling, and respect individual dietary needs while supporting and supervising volunteers to create a welcoming environment.

You will contribute to high-quality meals within budget, maintain cleanliness, and participate in training and audits to uphold food safety standards in line with COSHH

Qualifications

• Experience of preparing and cooking meals for large numbers of people.
• Ability to deliver high-quality meals within a set budget.
• Good communication and listening skills with a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals for lunch, breakfast or afternoon tea clubs.
• Plan nutritious menus meeting dietary and cultural needs.
• Manage food ordering and stock control to minimise waste.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
• Supervise and support volunteers and staff in the kitchen.
• Assist with induction and training of volunteers and staff.
• Maintain records and complete audits per policy.
• Attend training and meetings as required.
