• Assist in day-to-day running of the office and provide guidance to users of the service.
• Liaise with medical staff regarding completion of the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD) as per procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of patient deaths and ensure prompt notification to relevant health care agencies.
• Ensure notification of death letters are sent to the deceased's GP on the day certificates are completed.
• Ensure wards and critical care areas have adequate information for the newly bereaved.
• Assist with Public Health Funeral documentation with local councils where there is no next of kin.
• Support service development projects and educate Trust staff about the bereavement service.
• Collaborate with Safeguarding, Infection control and Mortality Review committee to provide timely information.
• Be aware of diverse needs to ensure equality for all groups.
