Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is recruiting a Bereavement Services & Eye Donation Scheme Assistant to support relatives of the deceased and assist the Eye Donation Scheme. You will handle sensitive information with care, coordinate with multiple teams, and ensure documentation is completed accurately and promptly.

The role requires empathy, organisation, and strong communication with healthcare professionals and external agencies.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs (A-C) including English and Maths or NVQ2 / NHS admin experience
• Proven working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel)
• Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and NHS databases (HISS, Patient Centre, BSO)

Responsibilities

• Offer compassionate guidance to relatives regarding death registration and the Coroner.
• Liaise with diverse internal and external stakeholders (Coroner's Office, Funeral Directors, GP, NHSBT).
• Prepare Eye Donation Scheme referral templates from Medical Examiner information.
• Obtain and clarify information for accurate referrals from relevant teams.
• Maintain Bereavement Services databases ensuring accuracy and data governance compliance.
• Support NHS Blood and Transplant audit projects and service improvements.
