Job summary

Akari Care Limited is seeking an Assistant Cook to support mealtimes in one of our elder care homes. Working 20 hours per week, you will help plan menus, plate up, and deliver nutritious, culturally considerate meals that residents enjoy.

You will lead by example, support fellow kitchen staff, and ensure high standards of hygiene and food safety. We offer a competitive salary, pension contributions, training and development, and an engaging community environment.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706 1&2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards).
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required.
• Experience as an Assistant Cook or Cook in similar settings.

Responsibilities

• Create menus in partnership with the team while considering dietary needs and cultural backgrounds.
• Plate up and arrange food trolleys to stimulate appetite and enjoyment.
• Lead and motivate kitchen staff and support overall care team.
• Ensure high standards of hygiene, food safety and resident wellbeing.
