Job summary

Destination Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 SEN support in mainstream primary schools around Walthamstow and the surrounding areas.

The role offers full-time or part-time hours across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, with day-to-day and longer-term opportunities. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to help the pupil access learning, build confidence and feel included in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children is desirable.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN is advantageous.
• 1:1 support experience is beneficial.
• Caring, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
• Help the pupil access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
• Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Adapt activities and resources to meet the pupil's individual needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
• Build a strong and trusting relationship with the pupil.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
