Job summary

Carefor is recruiting a Program Coordinator to coordinate and facilitate engaging programs for clients and caregivers. You will lead wellness-focused activities, draft communications, and build community partnerships to enhance client support.

The role requires post-secondary education in health-related fields, 3+ years of program coordination, and strong communication skills. A bilingual ability is an asset, with HOOPP pension and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Gerontology, Dementia Studies, Recreation Therapy, Social Service Worker, or other health services field
  • Certification in Volunteer Coordination an asset
  • Food Handlers Certificate an asset
  • First Aid and CPR an asset
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in program coordination
  • Public speaking experience
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and client data base systems (Alaya Care)
  • Knowledge of event planning practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of marketing and promotional practices
  • Knowledge and experience in program planning, facilitation, implementation and evaluation
  • Physical ability to perform duties such as standing for long periods, squatting, bending, and lifting heavy objects
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with clients, caregivers, staff, health care professionals, service agencies both verbally and in writing
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset
  • Valid Class G drivers' license and use of own vehicle
  • Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Background Check

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, facilitates, and evaluates diversified and meaningful programs with wellness dimensions in mind
  • Drafts and prepares communication tools designed to inform and engage clients and volunteers
  • Creates a safe and pleasant recreational environment to stimulate participation and creativity
  • Develops and fosters community partnerships to further enhance support to clients and program development
  • Accesses and utilizes community resources where appropriate
  • Liaises with other agencies and individuals from seniors-focused organizations to plan and deliver events
  • Collaborates with marketing to promote events and programs
  • Organizes supplies, equipment, and resources for the programs
  • Effectively communicates and interacts with clients in a courteous and professional manner
  • Provides information, coordinates services and/or refers clients/caregivers to other resources
  • Initiates and completes the client intake process with guidance from the Centre Leader
  • Maintains and updates client and volunteer files in the management system
  • Assists with volunteer recruitment, selection, orientation, and training
  • Processes client payments, donations, and fundraised money
  • Prepares and reconciles bank deposits
  • Participates in fundraising activities
  • Reviews client billable services and reimbursements
  • Ensures compliance with Health and Safety legislation and Carefor policies
  • Participates in health and safety training including WHMIS
  • Adheres to Carefor standards and confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned
