Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Therapy Assistant to join Community Rehabilitation in the Blackburn locality. The role involves home visits, supporting Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy plans, and assisting with digital delivery of treatment sessions.

You’ll work with a therapy team across the locality with a base at Daisyfield Mill Blackburn. You will gain regular supervision, training and opportunities for development while contributing to patient care in the community

Qualifications

• Clear understanding of the roles of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the community setting.
• Previous experience working in a caring environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and the Multidisciplinary Team.

Responsibilities

• Undertake delegated assessment tasks as requested by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
• Contribute to setting treatment goals with the therapist and patient.
• Deliver part or all of a treatment plan as prescribed by a qualified therapist.
• Provide verbal and written feedback on patient progress to the lead therapist.
• Develop and modify individual programmes with a qualified therapist.
• Undertake risk assessment and document risks in line with policy.
• Document each intervention in the patient’s case notes as per policy.
• Prescribe equipment or minor adaptations to promote independence within guidelines.
• Assist with day-to-day running of the department.
• Be an active team member and share information as required.
• Maintain treatment areas and equipment per health and safety guidance.
• Gain informed consent from patients for interventions.
• Carry out general administrative duties as required.
• Manage stock levels and ordering of equipment for patients.
