Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an aspiring individual to develop experience as a District Nurse in the Thame/Princes Risborough area on a 12-month maternity cover contract.   • Deliver end-of-life care and manage deteriorating patients.
  • Perform venepuncture, wound care, and dressings including compression therapy.
  • Work with district nurse team leaders and allied professionals to meet complex patient needs.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring individual to develop experience in the specialised area of District Nursing. This opportunity is now available in the Thame/ Princes Risborough area - 12 months contract to cover for Maternity leave. You will be supported to become a Community Nurse within a newly formed team. As a community nurse, you would be supported to develop into an autonomous practitioner; nursing patients with multiple complex health care needs in their own home., Community nursing is a specialised area of practice. As a Community Staff Nurse, you will work within a locality team of District Nurse Team Leaders, Community Staff Nurses, Therapists, Assistant Practitioners and Healthcare Assistants, to meet the needs of the complex patient in the community and avoid admissions to acute settings. This includes medication administration, end of life care, managing the deteriorating patient, complex and simple wound care including negative pressure wound therapy and compression therapy, venepuncture, utilising advanced assessment skills and clinical nursing skills. We nurse people with a variety of conditions in a holistic manner in their own home and in residential care settings. Community nurses work in close partnership with social care and other primary health care professionals such as GP's, Community Therapies and specialised services such as Tissue Viability, Diabetes and Heart Failure., For a comprehensive list of responsibilities and duties, please kindly refer to the Job Description and Person Specification by downloading the JD and PS attachment in the advert.   • Committed to own professional development to enhance practice
    Demonstrate experience post or pre-registration placements in relevant clinical areas: ? Care of Elderly ? Community ? Orthopaedics ? Neurology ? Respiratory ? Palliative Care ? Long term conditions, Desirable but not essential knowledge of working with a single assessment, planning and the delivery of care.
  • Experience of electronic clinical systems and technology e.g. RIO, Post registration education and extended skills e.g. Intravenous drug administration, compression dressings.
