Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist for the Community SLT Team covering Sefton. The post is 12-month fixed-term and part-time, with a complex caseload involving adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. Based at Zetland Street, you will supervise assistants and deputise for the clinical lead.

HCPC registration is required; role involves clinics, homes and care homes, and supervision of junior staff within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and treat adults with communication and swallowing difficulties, including dysphagia, dysfluency, voice and high-level language
• Deliver treatment in clinics, inpatient settings, people's homes, nursing homes and residential homes
• Hold and manage own caseload, write and review care plans
• Act as care coordinator, ensuring access to generic services
• Complete intake assessments and help prioritise waiting lists
• Provide clinical advice to staff, families and other professionals
• Provide knowledge on augmentative communication systems and ensure access
• Allocate work to and supervise SLT assistants
• Run training sessions for staff on communication strategies
• Deputise for the clinical lead and coordinate caseload
• Support service improvement and innovation
